Marlborough, top of the South Island
Here's how this great house looks in June, 2006.
Marlborough, top of the South Island
Another view across the front of the house.

Marlborough, top of the South Island
This beauty was designed by Geraldine architect Jess Paterson for a couple in Nelson. This will be their holiday home in the Sounds. Remote and gorgeous.

Spectacular views, and some real engineering challenges (winds and earthquakes) that we were glad to help with.

The owners are rapt with our results, and so are we. What could be better!

Marlborough — Helicopter Assembly
Same house as in photo above. There was no truck access to the building site, so we got as close as we could, and then flew every log in by chopper.

This was safe and effective—we assembled this house in just one day, so the cost was not prohibitive either.

Lake Ohau Village, near Twizel
Our exclusive "Homebush" model log home shell in Ohau Village. One of the two verandahs is visible here. Cedar weatherboard in gable end and for garage.

Lake Ohau Village, near Twizel
Our exclusive "Homebush" model log home shell, delivered and assembled in November 2005 to a lovely and large section in Ohau Village. That's Lake Ohau and Ben Ohau in the photo.

Same home as shown immediately above.

"Cut-It-Yourself"
This is a "Cut-It-Yourself" log cabin kitset that we sent to Colorado in April, 2005. This is a full-scribe-fit kit log home shell (it is NOT a chinked home!).

The customer cut all the notches and long grooves himself (on his own land, in his own time), and then stacked the shell. He got to make his own handcrafted log home of Natural Log Homes' fantastic trees, and all the logs were fully pre-scribed by our staff of professional log builders.

The design is "Homebush" (see below) with some modifications that the owner wanted. We were glad to help.

"Cut-It-Yourself" in Colorado, USA
Here are photos sent to us by the owner of the Cut-It-Yourself log home project. He and his nephew cut all the notches, and then stacked the logs up on the foundation. Big success and satisfaction all around!

Ohau Alpine Village . . . 3 huge french doors and heaps of indoor-outdoor flow for the mountain views. Main floor is 73 sq mtrs, with one bedroom, open plan kitchen-dining-lounge, and laundry-bathroom. The concrete pad foundation is 7.6m by 9.6m. First floor loft is 35 sq mtrs with 2 bedrooms. Total 107 sq meters of living space. Mountain living at its best --

Note the strong log underpurlins and log ridgepole. This house also has a log truss (on right). Engineered for high wind and seismic loads by Bonniface Consulting. This house, like all our home shells, is built solid!

We reassembled this home shell kitset on this foundation in 2 days. We built it in our Geraldine yard (as we always do), and the off-site pre-construction took us about 6 weeks. Designed by architect Jess Paterson.

This photo is courtesy of the homeowners. Thanks!

Ohau Alpine Village . . . Same house as above, finished and being enjoyed.

Bikes parked on the verandah and Weber kettle ready for a BBQ!

"Davis and Taylor House"
In Twizel, near Mount Cook, on the South Island. Three bedrooms, 2 stories, and a "T" shape floorplan of about 220 square metres (2400 square feet). We reassembled this house on its foundation in 3 days.

One variation has 4 bedrooms (3 upstairs, 1 on main floor).

Homebush is worth about NZD$110,000 (excl GST).

Comfortable, quiet, warm, plenty of indoor-outdoor flow. We love Homebush. It was designed for us at Natural Log Homes. This house has the "wow" factor!

 "Four Peaks"
A house designed to provide great value for the NZ or US market. Four Peaks fits into one container for shipping to the US -- and this makes it very cost effective.

3 bedrooms (1 down, 2 up), 2 living areas, 2 bathrooms, built-in storage, cathedral ceiling in great room, kitchen-dining. Log ridge and purlins. Covered log-framed entry.

We are looking forward to building it again. Efficient living, extraordinary value. Great looks. Another home designed by us at Natural Log Homes.

"Buying a log cabin is not simple, and requires the integration of many factors. What was excellent about the Natural Log Homes approach was we always felt our questions were addressed thoroughly and promptly and we had a consistent sense of guidance along the way.  It all culminated with my builder also sharing our experience with a "wow, this is a good product!"  We wanted to share our experience with others that may be in the same situation."

This is the dining room wing - - we have just placed the log ridge for the dining roof. There is also an outdoor log truss that will cover a large BBQ area.

Loburn (Okuku) cabin just northwest of Christchurch.

Full log-gable ends support two log under-purlins.

It would be difficult to imagine a cuter one-room cabin than this!

The owner wanted it to look like an Alaska trapper's cabin.

Mission accomplished !
