DESCRIPTION: |
|
Premium Douglas Fir |
Premium Douglas Fir is considered
perhaps the most sought after building log for log home construction
due to its exceptional resistance to weather and decay. All of
the Douglas Fir logs used in this home come from carefully managed
plantations, not from clear-cut wild forests. |
|
Big Logs |
Average 14" diameter (tips
are 11" and larger and butts are approximately 17"). |
|
Log Appearance
|
All logs feature their natural
shapes and natural taper. Logs are smooth, clean, with no sun
bleaching and no graying. In order to preserve the natural appearance
of the logs, logs are neatly and smoothly finished by hand with
a drawknife and knots are sanded smooth. |
| Corner Notch
Style |
All corners feature
saddle notches. This is a hand-scribed, hand-cut, compression-fit
notch that has scarfs. Built by craftsmen. The saddle notch provides
strength, great appearance and ensures a tight fit over time. |
|
Log End Style |
Our signature log end style
is the staggered, chisel cut, butt-tip style - keeping with the
timeless style of the great lodges and camps of the American
West. |
| Log Roof System |
Log Ridge Pole,
Flattened to 12:12 roof pitch; Two Log Purlins, each flattened
to 12:12 roof pitch; Log Entry Ridge and Plate Logs for covered
entry roof; Three Log Posts from Loft Log Beam to the ridge log
and to both purlins. All mortise and tenon joinery pre-cut and
ready to assemble. |
|
Gaskets |
Each long groove
and corner notch in this shell has state of the art EPDM rubber
gaskets pre-installed by us. The gaskets go on the inside and
outside edges of all grooves and inside all corner notches. |
|
Building Standards |
Natural Log Homes
is a "Pledge Member" of the International Log Builder's
Association (ILBA) log home certified builder program. This ensures
that this shell meets or exceeds the ILBA's stringent quality
standards. |
| Electrical
Holes |
Vertical electrical
holes inside the log walls are pre-drilled by us prior to shipment. |
|
Windows & Doors |
All window and door openings
are cut and sanded, and keyways (splines) pre-cut, ready for
windows and doors to be installed. See floor plan for door and
window locations. |
